NOTTINGHAM FOREST FOUNDATION LAUNCH TRICKY TO TALK MATCHDAY HUB
Nottingham Forest Foundation is to open a ‘Tricky to Talk Matchday Hub’ at the City Ground, helping fans to access trusted mental health and wellbeing services in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
As part of the Premier League’s Together Against Suicide campaign, fans attending matches at the City Ground will have access to mental health support via the Tricky to Talk Matchday Hub, which will be located outside the Brian Clough Stand.
In collaboration with Nottingham Forest, the Hub will provide supporters with a quiet, confidential space to access immediate advice and guidance from trained staff.
To ensure fans receive expert, localised support, the Foundation is partnering with key local mental health organisations, including Nottingham Counselling Services and NottAlone, a comprehensive mental health resource uniting services across Nottinghamshire. Practitioners will be on site to offer face-to-face support, practical tools for coping with mental health challenges, and direct signposting to local provision.
Beginning with this weekend’s fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, it will open two hours prior to kick-off at every home fixture during the 2026/27 season.
The Together Against Suicide initiative is running between 4-14 September and aims to use the power of football to encourage conversations around suicide prevention and help to reduce the stigma that can prevent people from seeking support.
Premier League funding is enabling Nottingham Forest and all other Premier League clubs to provide tailored environments on matchdays during the 2026/27 season, providing fans with the opportunity to talk in safe, non-judgemental settings, while also signposting them to trusted support organisations and services.
Colin Eley, Nottingham Forest Foundation’s Health & Wellbeing Manager, said: “We know that talking about mental health and suicide can be incredibly difficult, particularly when you’re not sure where to turn. Tricky to Talk and the introduction of our matchday hub is about making that first conversation a little easier. Providing a safe and non-judgemental space in a familiar setting matters, and we want people to know that they can come as they are, talk at their own pace and simply be listened to.
“It may not solve every problem, but feeling comfortable to open up ‘at the football’ could be the first step towards finding the right support. Sometimes that first step can make all the difference.”
