Forest Sports Hub Hosts Nottingham Council of Mosques Tournament

We were recently delighted to host the Nottingham Council of Mosques (NCM) for a landmark football tournament that brought together young people, families, and faith leaders from across Nottinghamshire.

The Nottingham Council of Mosques acts as an umbrella organisation representing mosques and Islamic centres across the region, working tirelessly to support the local Muslim community and create strong relationships with wider community partners.

By bringing their tournament to the Forest Sports Hub, NCM set out to achieve two vital goals:

  • Unite the Community: Bringing together diverse Muslim centres across Nottinghamshire through the universal language of sport.
  • Engage Young People: Demonstrating how local mosques can actively connect youth through football and broader community activities, building strong, positive ties between young people and their faith centres.

The event demonstrated the true versatility and welcoming spirit of our facility, hosting teams and supporters from 11 local centres:

Masjid Umar Nottingham, Nottingham Islam Information Centre, Bobbers Mill Community Centre, Makki Masjid, Sudanese Islamic Centre, Masjid Khazra, Gambian Community Masjid, Masjid Taybah, Masjid Quba, Meadows Muslim Centre, Beeston Muslim Centre

Laura Campbell, Forest Sports Hub Facility Manager, said:

“It was an absolute privilege to host the Nottingham Council of Mosques at the Forest Sports Hub. Seeing so many young people and families from across Nottinghamshire coming together at our facility truly highlights what the Forest Sports Hub is all about – providing an accessible, welcoming space that reflects and serves the diversity of our local community.

We loved the energy on the day and look forward to building on this partnership for many more events to come.”

The enthusiasm from participants extended well beyond football, with strong interest in future inter-masjid activities including cricket, youth leadership, and Quran recitation events.

Hosting the tournament was a fantastic reminder of the Forest Sports Hub’s role as a vibrant home for all local communities.
