Robin Hood Half Marathon: Fundraising Highlights

This past weekend saw an impressive turnout of community support as runners and hikers took on major physical challenges in aid of Nottingham Forest Foundation.

We would like to extend our thanks to Official Club Partner, The Circle Health Group, whose team completed the 13.1-mile course on Sunday in support of our work across Nottinghamshire.

Reflecting on the day, Matt and Stacey from The Circle Health Group shared:

“We were proud to support the Nottingham Forest Foundation, whose programmes positively impact tens of thousands of people every year by improving physical and mental wellbeing, developing skills and opportunities, and strengthening connections within local communities.”

“Taking part in the Robin Hood Half Marathon was a fantastic experience, made even more special by the incredible atmosphere and support from spectators around the course. I lost count of the number of times I heard my name being shouted, followed by a passionate ‘YOU REDSSS!’. The encouragement from the crowd helped carry us through the miles and made the day one to remember.”

Sunday was also a deeply meaningful day for a dedicated team of family and friends who ran in loving memory of Chris Moore. Chris had originally planned to complete the half marathon alongside his brothers-in-law, Adam and Rob. In his honour, ten of Chris’s close family and friends crossed the finish line together.

Their inspiring effort was bolstered by another deeply personal challenge today as Chris’s father-in-law, Alan Russell, completed a 52-mile trek along Yorkshire’s Herriot Way alongside his friend Dave. An avid hiker who frequently shared countryside walks with Chris, Steph, and their Labrador Ruby, Alan finished his four-day journey with family and Ruby waiting at the finish line to surprise him.

At the family’s request, all funds raised in Chris’s memory will be directed to the Foundation’s Tricky to Talk mental health and wellbeing initiative.

Calum Osborne, Chief Executive Officer at Nottingham Forest Foundation, said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part over the weekend. From our Official Club Partners at Circle Health Group to the family and friends who came together in memory of Chris Moore, their commitment and support will make a real difference.

The funds raised for our Tricky to Talk initiative will help us continue providing vital mental health and wellbeing support to people across our communities who need it most.”

Whether running 13.1 miles through the streets of Nottingham or trekking 52 miles through the Yorkshire dales, every single step taken this weekend reflects the very best of our community.

On behalf of everyone at Nottingham Forest Foundation, we offer our heartfelt thanks to all the runners, hikers, donors, and supporters for your extraordinary kindness and generosity.
