Premier League Kicks Participants Learn Life-Saving Skills

Participants at Nottingham Forest Foundation’s Premier League Kicks session recently took part in vital life-saving training at the Forest Sports Hub.

Delivered as part of Citizen Aid’s #InThisTogether ‘Stop the Bleed’ campaign, the interactive workshop equipped young people with essential, practical skills to respond effectively in emergency situations involving severe blood loss and traumatic injury.

During the session, participants learned how to identify life-threatening bleeding, apply direct pressure correctly, use pressure bandages, and safely deploy tourniquets.

The hands-on training aims to build confidence and empower young people in local communities to act quickly and potentially save lives before emergency services arrive.

Stefan Furgala, Community Engagement Coordinator at Nottingham Forest Foundation, said: “Our Premier League Kicks sessions are about much more than just playing football – they’re about creating a safe, supportive environment and providing our participants with real-life skills.

Partnering with Citizen’s Aid and ATTFE College for the ‘Stop the Bleed’ training gives our young people the confidence and practical knowledge to handle critical emergencies. Seeing how engaged everyone was at the Forest Sports Hub shows just how valuable these opportunities are for our community.”

One regular Premier League Kicks participant, shared his thoughts on the experience:

“Before the session, I wouldn’t have known what to do if someone was seriously injured. Learning how to properly apply direct pressure and use a tourniquet made a huge difference. It’s good to know that if something ever happened, I’d actually have the confidence to step in and help.”

The #InThisTogether ‘Stop the Bleed’ campaign continues to make a vital impact across Nottinghamshire, delivering free, accessible training to community groups, sports clubs, and youth venues.

Premier League Kicks, funded by the Premier League through the Premier League Foundation, uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people to reach their potential, in some of the most high-need areas in England and Wales.
