Students at Kimberley School are developing their understanding of future careers and building valuable employability skills through a tailored approach to the Think Big programme.

Embedded across Years 9–11, Think Big has been delivered as part of the school’s wider careers education offer, with activities designed to meet students at different stages of their school journey. By adapting the focus and delivery for each year group, students are able to build their knowledge, confidence and skills over time, creating a clearer link between their education and future opportunities.

Every student across Years 9–11 at Kimberley School has engaged with Think Big through a range of activities, including assemblies, careers events, workshops and mock interviews.

For Year 9 students, the programme introduced different career pathways through assemblies, careers fair involvement and marketing workshops, helping students begin exploring the opportunities available to them.

Year 10 students continued to develop their skills through marketing workshops, giving them the chance to apply creativity, teamwork and problem-solving in a real-world context.

As students moved into Year 11, Think Big supported their transition beyond school through mock interview sessions, helping them develop confidence, communication skills and an understanding of what employers are looking for.

This progressive approach ensures Think Big remains relevant throughout students’ time at school, providing experiences that are appropriate to their age and stage while supporting them to make informed decisions about their next steps.

Through working closely with Kimberley School, Think Big has helped bridge the gap between education and employment, giving students the opportunity to explore different industries, develop practical skills and understand the range of pathways available to them.

“Our students and staff have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Think Big programme. The assembly was engaging and opened our eyes to the wide range of opportunities our students could pursue after school.

“Students have been excited to take part in the workshops, and many have gone on to research other ways to get involved through the website. It has also given staff some great ideas about next steps for students after school and ways we can work closely with industries to provide our students with the best support for their future.”
