Foundation Hosts Premier League Kicks Tournament

The power of football to bring communities together was out in full force as Nottingham Forest Foundation brought participants from across our evening sessions together for a special Premier League Kicks tournament.

The tournament was designed to create a safe, positive, and friendly environment where young people from our weeknight sessions could meet, connect, and enjoy an action-packed day of football.

Selection for the event was based on those who showed consistent positive behaviour, dedication, and sportsmanship during our regular evening sessions. Every single participant earned their place through their attitude, making the day a true celebration of the core values behind Premier League Kicks.

Adding to the occasion, we were delighted to welcomed two teams from Leicester City in the Community to test our squads in a competitive yet welcoming setting.

During the afternoon break, participants headed inside for a No Room for Racism educational workshop. The Foundation team delivered an EAFC27 Ultimate Team-style “Guess the Player” quiz, giving young people only a position, nation, and club to identify Premier League stars.

With 20 different Premier League clubs featuring 20 different nationalities, the activity sparked open discussions about diversity, inclusion, and modern society. The workshop reinforced how football – from the top flight right down to our local Premier League Kicks sessions – brings people from all walks of life together under one shared passion.

Students from our West Notts College Coaching Course were on hand to support the event, giving the students first-hand experience at coaching in a community setting.

As the tournament moved into the knockout stages, Leicester fought their way through to an all-Leicester final to take home the official trophies. But the standout moment of the day happened alongside the final.

Nottingham Forest Premier League Kicks coaches Oscar and Emma gathered all 30 Trust participants who had been knocked out and set up a massive 15 vs 15 match across the full pitch. Seeing participants who attend different evening sessions across Nottingham mix into teams, communicate, and cheer each other on was a powerful reminder of how football breaks down barriers.

While Leicester City in the Community went home with the Trophy, the day was an overwhelming success for everyone involved.

Premier League Kicks, funded by the Premier League through the Premier League Foundation, uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people to reach their potential in some of the most under-served areas in England and Wales.
