Strategy Spotlight: How PLACE, PEOPLE and POTENTIAL will shape the Foundation

Launched at the end of July, our Strategic Game Plan provides Nottingham Forest Foundation with a clear sense of purpose and direction.

Built around three strategic pillars, it reflects our commitment as a charitable foundation, the needs of the communities we serve, and the lasting impact we aim to create across Nottinghamshire over the next five years.

Each pillar has its own focus, but together they shape how we’ll deliver our programmes, build partnerships and create opportunities for the people and communities we engage with.

PLACE

Communities thrive when people have somewhere safe, welcoming and accessible to come together.

That’s why Place is about much more than buildings or facilities. It’s about creating environments where people feel connected, supported and able to take part.

The Foundation will continue investing in trusted community spaces while delivering programmes in the areas where they are needed most. Whether that’s schools, community venues or our own facilities, our ambition is to remove barriers to participation and ensure people can access high-quality support close to home.

Over the next five years, we’ll strengthen our community hubs, develop inclusive spaces and work with partners to improve access to health, wellbeing and opportunity across Nottinghamshire.

For us, Place means being rooted in our communities and ensuring our presence creates lasting local impact.

PEOPLE

People have always been at the heart of everything we do.

Every participant, volunteer, colleague, partner and supporter plays a role in helping us create positive change.

The People pillar focuses on supporting individuals to improve their confidence, wellbeing and resilience while continuing to invest in the talented workforce that delivers our programmes every day.

We know meaningful change happens through trusted relationships. That’s why we’ll continue delivering inclusive programmes that meet people where they are, supporting them over time rather than through one-off interventions.

We’ll also invest in our colleagues, developing the skills, knowledge and expertise needed to ensure the Foundation continues delivering high-quality services, programmes and initiatives for years to come.

By supporting people to grow, we’re strengthening communities and building a Foundation that can achieve even greater impact.

POTENTIAL

Every person has potential.

Sometimes they simply need the right opportunity, encouragement or support to realise it.

The Potential pillar is about creating those opportunities.

Whether helping someone become more physically active, improving their mental wellbeing, building confidence, progressing into education, gaining employment or developing new life skills, our role is to open doors and help people move forward.

Across every programme we deliver, we want participants to leave with more than they arrived with. Better health. Greater confidence. New skills. Stronger aspirations. Clearer pathways for the future.

As we grow, we’ll continue using evidence to understand what works, improve how we deliver services and ensure every programme creates meaningful, measurable outcomes.

For us, success isn’t measured by how many activities we deliver. It’s measured by the lives that are changed because of them.

One strategy. One Foundation.

Place, People and Potential are not separate ambitions.

They are the framework that connects every decision we make, every programme we deliver and every partnership we build.

Together, they support our vision of a healthy, connected and ambitious Nottinghamshire where everyone can reach their potential. They also underpin our goals to support more people, strengthen community hubs, improve health and wellbeing, create pathways into education and employment, and build a sustainable Foundation that delivers lasting impact.

As Nottingham Forest Foundation begins this new chapter, these three pillars will guide everything we do, ensuring we remain rooted in our communities, focused on people and committed to unlocking potential across Nottinghamshire.
